Judge Zones are a compromise between square mileage and population distribution based on 2007 US census bureau maps. To become a certified Judge, an applicant must Intern at a Qualifier or Trial, then begin a video curriculum and Intern at least two more Qualifiers and/or Trials. When the Internship and Curriculum have been completed, the applicant must pass the written certification. Various exemptions are available for certain portions of the certification process for existing (AKC, ASFA, NAVHDA, NOFCA, and UKC) Field Trial, Hunt Test and Night Hunt Certified Judges, depending on the existing certification. The judgeship cannot be taken lightly. Not only do the Judges officiate at Qualifiers and Trials, they also govern the association, each judge having one vote in all major decisions effecting the Association. If you are interested in becoming an HRA Judge please see the Contact page. |
